To provide supplemental funds to promote student achievement, teaching excellence, and quality educational programs and facilities at Aldert Root Elementary School.
Built in 1958, Aldert Root Elementary School sits in the heart of Raleigh, North Carolina. One of the flagship elementary schools in the Wake County Public Schools system, Aldert Root has a stellar faculty and an extraordinarily supportive school community.
The explosive growth in Raleigh and Wake County since the late 1990s has compromised funding at schools throughout the
school system, including Aldert Root. Accordingly, in 2005, a group of volunteers decided to form a foundation to
give the Root community a way to contribute toward the enhancement of educational excellence at Aldert Root Elementary School.
Formed on January 27, 2005, Aldert Root Elementary Educational Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3)
charitable organization that is unaffiliated with the school system, the school, or the Aldert Root PTA. The
Foundation is a vehicle for generating resources for educational initiatives that otherwise would not be funded
by existing governmental revenues and cannot be paid for by PTA funds.
The Foundation is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. Furthermore, the Foundation‘s mission
has the support of an Honorary Advisory Board of former parents, students, teachers and administrators with
exemplary service to the school in the decades since the school‘s establishment in 1958.
