The school has two entrances:

- Lassiter Mill Road
- Northampton Street
|
Lassiter Mill is reserved for school-bus operations
and Aldert Root Staff parking.
Visitors, car-pool students,
and county staff must use the main entrance on Northampton Street.

from Apex/Cary/US-1 south of Raleigh
|
- Take US-1 north.
- Cross I-40 and stay north on US-1.
- US-1 merges with I-440 beltline.
- Follow I-440 until exit 7, US-70/NC-50/Glenwood Ave exit.
- Stay right at the exit and turn right onto US70/Glenwood Avenue south.
- Go through 1 traffic light at Woman's Club Road.
- Take a left at the 2nd traffic light at Pasquotank Dr. being careful
to take the middle of the 3 left turns! One of the turns is a hard left
onto Craven Dr. Pasquotank Dr is the not-so-hard left turn.
- Stay on Pasquotank Dr. through the next stop sign and as it changes names to Transylvania.
- When the road comes to a T intersection, turn right onto Beaufort St.
- Take your next left in 100 feet onto Brunswick St.
- As Brunswick St. goes around the corner it becomes Northampton St.
- The school entrance will be on the right.
- Parking is past the front doors but there aren't very many spots.
If there are no spots just past the front doors, look for parallel parking on the street in front of the school.

- Watch for the major intersection with St. Marys Street and Anderson Drive but go
straight through staying on Glenwood
- Watch for a traffic light intersection at Pasquotank Drive and take the right. Take care
to take the middle right and to not go onto Alamance or Perquimans
- Stay on Pasquotank Dr. through the next stop sign and as it changes names to Transylvania.
- When the road comes to a T intersection, turn right onto Beaufort St.
- Take your next left in 100 feet onto Brunswick St.

- Take I-440 West toward Wake Forest
- Follow I-440 until exit 7A (2nd Glenwood Ave Exit).

- North Hills mall is bracketed on the east by 6 Forks Road and on the north by
Lassiter Mill Rd. Find Lassiter Mill Road and turn left/south-west.
- The road will go over top of I-440 and will head mostly south.
- There will be a tall brick wall on the right side of the road. Immediately
after the wall ends is the school-bus/faculty entrance to Root Elementary. If you are staff at the school, turn into
the second parking lot entrance. If not, read on.
- Go a couple of hundred yards further and take the right turn at Scottland Street.
- Take the 2nd right onto Beaufort Street.
- Take the 1st right onto Brunswick Street.
- As Brunswick St. goes around the corner it turns into Northampton St.
- The school entrance will be on the right.

- The east side of the mall faces Glenwood Ave.
- Turn right onto Glenwood Ave south heading toward I-440/Beltline
- Stay in the left lanes and go underneath the highway.
- Go through the highway ramp traffic lights.
- Go through the traffic light at Woman's Club Road.
- Take a left at the next traffic light at Pasquotank Dr. being careful
to take the middle of the 3 left turns! One of the turns is a hard left
onto Craven Dr. Pasquotank Dr is the not-so-hard left turn.
- Stay on Pasquotank Dr. through the next stop sign and as it changes names to Transylvania.
